A New About Poetry anthology
Monday September 8, 2003
In answer to our recent blog entry on the finding of Ted Hughes’ Dartmoor memorial, “The poet’s name inscribed on a hidden slab,” Victor Infante sent us a poem, “Poem Begun With a Line by Ted Hughes”... the seed for our newest collection.
Victor wrote, “Weird reading that bit about Hughes’ grave. I saw him read once, in London. Amazing, amazing voice, and a powerful writer, for whatever else his failings were. Attached is a copy of the poem I wrote on the day I learned he’d died.”
Our Forum poets have been using selected quotations from a wide variety of poems to inspire themselves in the weekly challenges, and we know there must be many more poets out there who, like Victor, have written poems “after” Ted Hughes or his first wife, Sylvia Plath. We’d like to gather an anthology of those poems, and we invite you to submit your poem for possible inclusion in our Hughes/Plath collection.
