Groundswell of the Broken
by Victoria Vasquez

Clamoring,
festooned
Incoherence in the motherland.
A dam surpassed
A levee overcome
under torrents of red tide
Allegiances forged in fanatic passion
Silk robed and daisy chained
across blade wire and ocean.
Hinterland of a pariah
Behind an iron veil
regrouped,
tears of a woman
Scourge ran her arms red
and stain laden her burque.
In her,
ourselves.
Obscured is our vision.
A city of broken
A paramour in shambles
A nation of wilted souls
A discord unfathomed
We are joined in monument of certain destiny
and an infinite sorrow
unforeseen,
and unimagined.
